Concrete Contractor in Lincoln, CA

Beautiful Homes Deserve Concrete Built With the Same Attention to Detail.

From new construction in Twelve Bridges and Bickford Ranch to custom homes, established neighborhoods, and larger countryside properties, CJR provides concrete construction thoughtfully planned around the home and surrounding property.

CONCRETE BUILT FOR LINCOLN PROPERTIES

From an Unfinished Backyard to a Beautifully Established Home.

Lincoln has a wide variety of homes and properties, and the approach to concrete construction can look very different depending on where you're starting.

For homeowners moving into newer communities, concrete may be one of the first permanent improvements being made outside the home.

Patios, walkways, steps, pool decking, drainage, and other hardscape should be considered together before construction begins. The decisions made during this stage can influence how the rest of the backyard is developed.

On established properties, the conversation may be different.

Existing concrete, mature landscaping, drainage, elevations, and surrounding improvements all need to be considered when replacing or expanding hardscape.

And on custom homes and larger countryside properties, concrete may extend well beyond a standard patio or driveway.

Whatever the property, we believe the concrete should reflect the quality of the home and the level of investment being made.

That starts with understanding how the space will be used, what construction conditions need to be addressed, and how the finished concrete should complement the architecture and surrounding landscape.

Beautiful concrete is important. Knowing how to properly build it is just as important.

The Details Behind Quality Concrete

A strong, long-lasting concrete project starts with more than just a pour. From proper site preparation to thoughtful design and attention to drainage, we focus on the details that make all the difference.

DEMOLITION, REPLACEMENT + REDESIGN

Existing concrete does not always need to be recreated exactly as it was. When removing an older patio, walkway, driveway, or pool deck, we can evaluate whether the original layout still makes sense or whether the replacement creates an opportunity to improve circulation, drainage, usable space, or the overall relationship with the home.

DRAINAGE + ELEVATIONS

Concrete changes the way water moves across a property. Before construction, we consider finish elevations, slope, drainage paths, adjacent structures, landscape areas, and where water ultimately needs to go.

PROPER PREPARATION + CONSTRUCTION

The finished surface is only the portion you see. Excavation, base preparation, compaction, forming, reinforcement, thickness, drainage, joint placement, and proper placement practices all contribute to how the concrete performs after our crews leave.

CONCRETE FOR LINCOLN PROPERTIES

From newer homes in Twelve Bridges to custom properties in Catta Verdera and larger countryside residences, Lincoln concrete projects can involve very different construction conditions. We consider grading, drainage, access, existing improvements, and future outdoor plans to ensure the finished concrete complements the home and is properly planned for the property.

Experience Behind the Work

Concrete is not simply one of the services CJR added along the way.

Colton began working in residential concrete and landscape construction in his early teens before moving into commercial concrete in his early twenties. Those years expanded his experience into larger and more demanding construction environments involving crews, plans, schedules, safety, quality control, excavation, structural concrete, and field problem-solving.

From personally excavating large-scale elevator pits and structural footings to working atop high-rise buildings in Downtown Sacramento—forming, placing, and finishing structural concrete—those experiences helped shape the standards he carries into CJR today.

That construction background influences how we approach even the concrete homeowners may simply see as a finished patio or driveway.

MORE THAN THE FINISHED SURFACE

Concrete Can Make—or Break—the Look of a Home.

Concrete is often one of the largest and most visible parts of a property.

A driveway may be the first thing someone sees when arriving at your home. A patio can become the foundation of your backyard gathering space. Pool decking, walkways, steps, and other hardscape help connect the home to everything around it.

When the concrete is done well, it complements the home. When it's not, it can quickly become noticeable for all the wrong reasons.

We've seen beautifully constructed homes where the concrete simply doesn't reflect the quality of the property around it.

Uneven surfaces, inconsistent finishes, poor transitions, uncontrolled cracking, or hardscape that feels disconnected from the architecture can take away from an otherwise beautiful home.

That's why we believe concrete should never be treated as an afterthought.

The finished appearance matters, but the construction beneath it matters just as much.

Proper excavation, grading, base preparation, compaction, reinforcement, forming, drainage planning, placement, finishing, and control joints all require experience and attention to detail.

We also consider the design itself.

The layout, proportions, finish, borders, steps, transitions, surrounding landscape, and relationship to the home's architecture can make a significant difference in the finished result.

For homeowners building a new backyard in Lincoln, we think ahead.

A future pool, pavilion, outdoor kitchen, landscape plan, or other improvement can influence decisions being made about permanent concrete today.

And for established custom homes, the goal may be to update or expand the hardscape while preserving the quality and character of the existing property.

Choosing the right concrete contractor matters.

The experience behind the work can make a significant difference in how the finished concrete looks and how it performs over time.

The right concrete elevates a home. The wrong concrete can become the first thing you notice.

A beautifully built home deserves concrete that reflects the same level of quality and craftsmanship.

Clear Communication

We want our clients to understand what they are building, what is included, how the project will be approached, and who is accountable for bringing it together.

Experience With New Construction + Custom Properties

Lincoln projects can range from developing an unfinished backyard in a newer community to replacing concrete around an established home or planning extensive hardscape on acreage. Each situation requires a different approach to evaluating elevations, drainage, access, existing improvements, and construction sequencing. Our experience across concrete, grading, drainage, pools, landscape, and complete outdoor construction allows us to consider how these details affect the entire property. We understand that quality concrete isn't simply about the finished surface. It's about the planning and construction experience behind it.

Your Lincoln Concrete Questions Answered

The Details That Matter

Concrete pricing depends on much more than the total square footage.

The type of project, excavation, demolition, grading, base preparation, reinforcement, concrete thickness, finish, drainage, access, and surrounding improvements can all influence the investment.

A patio in a relatively unfinished backyard may require a different scope of work than replacing an existing driveway or installing extensive hardscape around a custom home.

We prefer to understand your property, priorities, and targeted comfort zone of investment before developing a proposal.

A clear concrete proposal should reflect the work required to properly construct the project—not simply a price per square foot.

Ideally, before the home is complete.

Even if you're not ready to begin construction immediately, early planning can help identify important considerations involving finished elevations, drainage, access, utilities, pool placement, and future outdoor improvements.

In newer Lincoln communities, homeowners may have an opportunity to coordinate certain decisions before fencing, landscape, or other permanent improvements are installed.

The earlier the complete backyard is considered, the more opportunities there may be to avoid unnecessary work later.

We recommend discussing the possibility of a future pool before installing permanent concrete.

Pool placement, excavation access, equipment locations, drainage, finished elevations, and the surrounding deck can all influence how the backyard should be developed.

Installing a large patio without considering a future pool may create additional demolition or construction work later.

You don't necessarily need to build everything at once.

But knowing the long-term direction can help make sure the concrete you install today supports what you may want to build tomorrow.

Yes.

CJR can coordinate extensive concrete and hardscape projects involving driveways, patios, walkways, pool decks, steps, foundations, footings, slabs, and other improvements.

On larger properties, the scope may involve multiple areas of concrete construction, varying elevations, drainage considerations, and coordination with landscape or outdoor structures.

We evaluate how the different areas connect and what preparation and construction sequencing may be necessary.

Our experience extends beyond individual concrete pours to planning how the hardscape works throughout the property.

Absolutely.

Many established Lincoln homes already have landscaping, retaining elements, walkways, patios, or other improvements homeowners want to preserve.

Replacing older concrete doesn't necessarily mean removing everything around it.

We evaluate the existing layout, grading, drainage, elevations, and how the new concrete will connect with surrounding improvements.

Sometimes the original layout still works well. Other times, a few thoughtful changes can make the space more functional.

The goal is to improve what's no longer working while respecting the parts of the property you want to keep.

Extremely important.

The finished concrete is only one part of the project.

Proper excavation, subgrade evaluation, base preparation, compaction, reinforcement, grading, drainage, forming, and control joint planning all contribute to how concrete performs.

Two projects can look similar immediately after installation while having very different preparation beneath the surface.

We believe the construction details homeowners can't see are just as important as the finished concrete they can.

Yes, depending on the site conditions and intended use.

Sloped properties may require additional grading, excavation, forming, drainage planning, steps, retaining elements, or engineering.

For driveways, slope and transitions also affect how comfortably vehicles enter and travel across the concrete.

We evaluate the existing terrain and how the finished improvements need to connect with the home and surrounding property.

The goal is to plan concrete that works with the conditions rather than ignoring them.

There isn't one finish that is right for every property.

Broom finish, colored concrete, stamped concrete, exposed aggregate, borders, and other finish details can create very different looks.

Rather than choosing a finish because it's popular, we look at the home's architecture, exterior materials, surrounding landscape, other hardscape, how the area will be used, and how much visual attention you want the concrete itself to carry.

Absolutely.

CJR's experience extends beyond concrete into pools, landscape, grading, drainage, pavilions, outdoor kitchens, fire features, lighting, audio, and other outdoor improvements.

This is especially helpful when concrete is part of a larger project.

Pool elevations affect decking. A pavilion may require foundations. Outdoor kitchens need utilities. Landscape requires irrigation, and drainage needs to work across the entire space.

Planning these elements together helps the finished project feel cohesive and can prevent unnecessary construction changes later.

Very important.

Concrete creates permanent surfaces that affect how water moves across the property.

We consider finished elevations, existing drainage patterns, surrounding landscape, and how new hardscape may affect the home and neighboring improvements.

On larger or sloped Lincoln properties, those considerations may require additional planning.

Depending on the conditions, drainage improvements or engineering may be necessary.

Drainage should be considered before concrete is poured—not after water becomes a problem.

Because the finished square footage doesn't tell the whole story.

Demolition, excavation, off-haul, grading, base preparation, compaction, reinforcement, thickness, drainage, access, forming, finishes, and pumping requirements can all vary between proposals.

One contractor may include work another has excluded.

Before comparing prices, ask what is included beneath and around the concrete, what materials and specifications are proposed, and how the contractor evaluated your property.

Compare the actual construction scope—not simply the price per square foot.

Not necessarily. Concrete is a rigid material, and some cracking can occur naturally as it cures and responds to temperature changes, moisture, soil movement, and other conditions.

However, the experience and preparation behind the concrete work matter significantly in helping reduce and control that cracking.

Proper ground preparation, compaction, reinforcement, forming, expansion and isolation measures where appropriate, concrete placement, finishing techniques, and properly planned control joints all play a role in how the concrete performs.

Control joints are intentionally placed to create weakened planes where shrinkage cracking is encouraged to occur in a more controlled location. Without the proper preparation and joint planning, cracking is more likely to develop in places you don't want it.

An experienced concrete contractor understands the measures that can be taken to reduce the potential for uncontrolled cracking and properly plans control joints to help manage where normal shrinkage cracking occurs.

No contractor can responsibly guarantee that concrete will never crack. But there is a big difference between acknowledging the natural characteristics of concrete and using that as an excuse for poor preparation or workmanship.

The goal is to give the concrete the best opportunity to perform the way it should—and that starts long before the concrete truck arrives.

Yes.

Depending on the project, CJR can construct concrete foundations, footings, and slabs for outdoor improvements such as pavilions, pergolas, outdoor kitchens, and other structures.

These elements should be coordinated with the structure's design, applicable engineering, utilities, and surrounding concrete.

We prefer to identify those requirements before permanent patios and other hardscape are installed.

Proper planning helps the concrete support the complete outdoor project—not simply the immediate area being poured.

You'll meet directly with CJR owner Colton Ray—not a salesperson.

Colton will discuss your goals, evaluate the property, and consider the construction details that may influence the scope of work.

Whether you're starting with a new home, replacing existing concrete, or planning extensive hardscape around a custom property, that hands-on construction experience matters.

We want homeowners to understand what they're building, what's included in the proposal, and what to expect before construction begins.
