Concrete Contractor in Auburn, CA

Concrete Construction Built on Experience

From established Auburn neighborhoods to custom foothill properties, CJR provides concrete construction with careful planning, proper preparation, and thoughtful drainage.

Concrete Built for Auburn Properties

Designed Around the Property Beneath It

Auburn's mix of established neighborhoods, custom homes, foothill properties, and larger lots means concrete construction can look very different from one property to another.

Elevation, drainage, soil conditions, rock, mature trees, existing improvements, access, and the relationship between new concrete and the home all deserve consideration before forms are set.

Whether we are constructing a patio, driveway, pool deck, steps, slab, or a larger hardscape plan, we want the concrete to make sense for the property—not simply fill an open area.

The Details Behind Quality Concrete

A strong, long-lasting concrete project starts with more than just a pour. From proper site preparation to thoughtful design and attention to drainage, we focus on the details that make all the difference.

DEMOLITION, REPLACEMENT + REDESIGN

Existing concrete does not always need to be recreated exactly as it was. When removing an older patio, walkway, driveway, or pool deck, we can evaluate whether the original layout still makes sense or whether the replacement creates an opportunity to improve circulation, drainage, usable space, or the overall relationship with the home.

DRAINAGE + ELEVATIONS

Concrete changes the way water moves across a property. Before construction, we consider finish elevations, slope, drainage paths, adjacent structures, landscape areas, and where water ultimately needs to go.

PROPER PREPARATION + CONSTRUCTION

The finished surface is only the portion you see. Excavation, base preparation, compaction, forming, reinforcement, thickness, drainage, joint placement, and proper placement practices all contribute to how the concrete performs after our crews leave.

CONCRETE FOR AUBURN PROPERTIES

Auburn's terrain can introduce elevation changes, rock, mature landscaping, existing hardscape, and other site conditions that influence concrete construction. Understanding the property first helps us determine the appropriate preparation and construction approach.

Experience Behind the Work

Concrete is not simply one of the services CJR added along the way.

Colton began working in residential concrete and landscape construction in his early teens before moving into commercial concrete in his early twenties. Those years expanded his experience into larger and more demanding construction environments involving crews, plans, schedules, safety, quality control, excavation, structural concrete, and field problem-solving.

From personally excavating large-scale elevator pits and structural footings to working atop high-rise buildings in Downtown Sacramento—forming, placing, and finishing structural concrete—those experiences helped shape the standards he carries into CJR today.

That construction background influences how we approach even the concrete homeowners may simply see as a finished patio or driveway.

THOUGHTFUL CONCRETE DESIGN

Designed to Belong With the Home

Concrete takes up a significant amount of visual space in many outdoor projects, so layout matters just as much as finish.

We consider proportions, transitions, walkways, furniture areas, pool relationships, landscape areas, steps, borders, and how people will actually move through the finished space.

The goal is for the concrete to feel intentional to the architecture and property rather than looking like an oversized slab was simply placed wherever space was available.

One Team. Complete Outdoor Spaces.

We design and build pools, concrete, hardscape, outdoor living, landscape, drainage, and more—so every element works together from the beginning.

Family-Owned. Owner-Operated.

CJR is a family-owned and owner-operated company. You work directly with owner Colton Ray from the initial consultation through construction—there isn't a salesperson between you and the person responsible for the work.

Construction-First Approach

Our background in concrete, excavation, pools, and complete outdoor construction helps us anticipate challenges, plan properly, and consider how each part of the project affects the next.

Clear Communication

We want our clients to understand what they are building, what is included, how the project will be approached, and who is accountable for bringing it together.

Designed for Auburn Properties

Auburn properties can introduce elevation changes, mature trees, drainage considerations, rock, access challenges, and other site-specific conditions. We consider the property itself from the beginning of planning.

Quality You Can Count On

Our focus is thoughtful planning, proper preparation, quality craftsmanship, and doing the work correctly—not taking shortcuts to move a project along.

Colton and his team were EXCEPTIONAL in their work at our home. We had a big backyard of flat dirt and he helped turn it into a beautiful resort like feel.

Your Auburn Concrete Questions Answered

The Details That Matter

CJR constructs patios, driveways, pool decks, walkways, steps, foundations, slabs, garage and shop slabs, sport courts, retaining elements, decorative concrete, and custom hardscape as part of residential outdoor construction projects.

Concrete performance begins underneath the finished surface. Excavation, subgrade conditions, base preparation, compaction, reinforcement, drainage, thickness, and proper construction practices all influence long-term performance.

Depending on the property, elevation changes, rock, drainage, mature trees, access, and existing improvements may influence preparation and design.

Those conditions should be evaluated before construction rather than treated as an afterthought.

Yes. Replacement can be an opportunity to improve the original design rather than simply reproduce it.

We can evaluate circulation, patio size, drainage, transitions, landscaping, and how the space is currently being used.

Yes. In fact, knowing the larger plan before placing permanent concrete can be extremely valuable.

We can consider future structures, utilities, pools, landscape areas, drainage, and access before today's concrete limits tomorrow's options.

The visible finish may sound similar while preparation, thickness, reinforcement, demolition, disposal, drainage, base material, access assumptions, finish details, and other scope items differ.

A lower number isn't necessarily the same project for less money if the scopes aren't actually equivalent.

Yes. Depending on the project, our Design + Pre-Construction process can help establish layout, elevations, materials, transitions, drainage, and coordination with the rest of the outdoor plan before construction.

Ask about more than price per square foot.

Understand preparation, reinforcement, drainage, scope, exclusions, project management, communication, and who will actually be responsible for the work after the contract is signed.
