To help understand that not every contractor is equal. It is important for clients to take the time to understand their proposals and rights as the client.

  1. Are you licensed, bonded, and insured? Always request and verify documentation.

  2. Do you have employees? If so, is every employee covered by Workers’ Compensation Insurance?
  3. What materials do you plan to use for my project? For example: What is the concrete mix design? What type and size of rebar will be used? How many inches of gravel base will be installed?

  4. Will there be a written contract outlining my rights as a client, along with a progress payment schedule detailing how and when payments will be made?
  5. Do you provide a Completion Form that includes a lien release, confirming all vendors and subcontractors have been paid?

To protect our community, please read Top 5 Risks when hiring an unlicensed “contractor” to perform work at your home.

  1. You may be exposed to legal action and held personally liable for any injuries occurring on your property. Homeowner’s insurance will not cover such incidents, as they are associated with an unlawful activity.
  2. You could become the target of a financial scam. Never allow a “contractor” to request a down payment exceeding $1,000 or 10% of the total contract amount—whichever is less.
  3. You risk receiving substandard workmanship with no contractual warranties, which can lead to costly repairs down the line if the construction is not completed correctly.
  4. A “contract” with an unlicensed “contractor” is not legally binding. It carries no legal weight and is unlikely to be enforceable in court.
  5. Hiring an unlicensed contractor puts you at serious risk of delays, poor workmanship, and an incomplete project. These individuals often request significant upfront payments, only to abandon the job—leaving you with a costly mess and little recourse.

Please take a moment to fill out our Consultation Questionnaire located on the Contact Us page.

At CJR, we use modern tools such as Google Earth to review your project site before our initial meeting. Having this information ahead of time allows us to come prepared and fully equipped to discuss your options—such as property accessibility and other important details.

It’s also helpful for us to know in advance if your project will require a landscape design. In those cases, we’ll schedule an additional consultation with our in-house landscape designer. This ensures open communication from the very beginning between you, our design team, and our construction crew, creating a seamless and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

We believe it’s important to work with a company you genuinely trust and feel confident welcoming into your home. Trust and transparency are at the core of what we do. At CJR Concrete & Landscape Construction, we partner with our customers from start to finish—helping select materials, refining design details, and clearly outlining costs before the project begins. This allows us to shape each project around your budget while still delivering the highest level of craftsmanship.

This is the standard we hold ourselves to, and we hope you’ll recognize it from our very first conversation together.

CJR Concrete & Landscape Construction offers a wide range of services—from full custom landscape installations to concrete driveway extensions No matter the size or scope of your project, we’re here to discuss your ideas and how we can help bring them to life.
